The first time the Rebbe spoke of Mivtza Ahavas Yisroel, the last of the ten Mivtzoyim, was Chai Elul 5736. The Rebbe explained the initiative and its importance.

On Chof Tes Elul 5736, the Rebbe spoke about the Mivtza at great length, going into many details about how the Mivtza is done. The Rebbe requested that a Gemach be started for it, and suggested that each Shul make its own. The Rebbe also connected Ahavas Yisroel to a story of the Tzemach Tzedek.

A few weeks later on Yud Gimmel Tishrei 5737, the Rebbe spoke about the Daled Minim, and added that we should invite Jews to our Sukkos who don't have a Sukkah to eat in.
