On Yud Tes Kislev, 5734, the Rebbe launched the international mivtza Chanukah campaign, later connecting it with the war and putting an emphasis on visiting the Israeli soldiers, and the widows and orphans from the war.

On Yud Tes Kislve 5738, the anniversary of the launch, the Rebbe spoke strongly about continuing the Mivtza, stating that every house should be lit with Ner Mitzvah and Torah Ohr, adding that every Chossid that want to get involed will recieve 10 Shekalim towards his Mivtzoim.

On Shabbos Parshas Vayeoishev 5739, the Rebbe spoke at great lenght about Mivtza Chanukah, encouraging Chassidim to join the Mivtza stating that there is only one day left to prepare. The Rebbe went into great detail on how the Mivtza should be done

There were many more times throughout the years where the Rebbe spoke about Mivtza Chanukah, one time that sticks out is the 6th night of Chanukah 5747, in middle of the case on the Seforim. The Rebbe strongly encouraged the Chassidim to make a Shturem in Mivtza Chanukah, adding that a book should be printed of pictures of the Menorah lightings, which was later printed with the title “let there be light”
